Vehicle guidelines for students

Dear Parents,

1. It has come to the notice of the school authorities that a few numbers of children are driving scooters / motorcycles to commute to school. In addition to over speeding, children are often seen triple riding or driving recklessly. While the school is proactively taking measures to ensure safety of all children by checking vehicles/ helmets/licence at the school gate, the children however, often park their bike outside the school premises or on road (non parking area). The school cannot take care of safety in such cases.

2. Accordingly, we need parents to ensure that they do not allow their children to drive two wheelers etc without driving licience.

3. A Driving Licence is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, individuals having learner licence and between 16 to 18 years of age can ride a vehicle of 50 cc or less engine capacity alone for personal use. Moreover, a learner can only drive a non-geared vehicle less than 50cc engine capacity only if he/she has a pillion rider having a permanent licence. Thus, a person with learner licence driving a two-wheeler of more than 50cc (eg. Honda Activa etc.) is violating Motor Vehicles Act.

Note: In case of any mishap there will be no liability of school authorities whatsoever for these violators. We need parents to be aware of the relevant road traffic rules.

 Thanks
